My name is Travis Stevens and I have been grappling for most of my life in one way or another. The purpose of this channel is to teach everyone the concepts that helped me go from an average teenage kid to the Olympic Podium in Judo! I have grappled at the highest levels being a 3x United States Judo Olympian for the 81kg weight class. I'm also a BJJ black belt under Renzo Gracie and John Danaher! I pride myself on honesty and being straightforward. I have a very direct way of teaching. You won't find any really flashy moves on my channel that look good but don’t work when your training. I only show and display techniques that I have either been caught in or have caught people in consistently. Tricks are nice to have but let's build a strong foundation of grappling so we can compete with anyone in the world.

just finished my third class this video is helpful thank you
Love it, thank you 🙏 your instructional videos are immensely helpful.
This is really familiar to BJJ to it’s basically the setup for a gator roll/ anaconda choke, but for position over submission. . . Which is arguably the safer more conservative option
love the grid explanation helps a lot
I love how both casual and professional this whole podcast is. It feels like a conversation between 2 close friends, but over topics that actually matter with some laughs in the middle.
I believe Master Ken would approve.
That's awesome. Thank you Travis
Is the first one dangerous for my oppontent knees?
not sure how this doesn’t have more views - everyone share
Mary travis has one more Olympics in him
my #1 problem right now is conditioning. going back to the dojo at 55 after a 30 year hiatus REALLY underscores this point, ESPECIALLY when working with 20 year olds
My favourite judoka. Your style
the BJJ students in my school don't want to learn Judo as they are afraid of being thrown, even one of the black belts. I am unsuccessfully trying to promote Judo and just can't seem to break through that glass door. We need a great marketing campaign
100%. Also why would good young athletes choose judo if they could potentially make a ridiculous amount of money in a different sport. There has to be a substantial reward, given the substantial risk of doing judo. Anyone can see the stats of the amount of Japanese children that die during judo practice every year. How many die during basketball practice in the US…
@jsherrier1196 Bullseye! 1) Judo IS a combat art with inherent risks. 2) We need MAJOR corporate sponsors that see money to be made in the Art of Judo. How? We need some money making winners. We need some Media attention. MARKETING. I'm no good at that.
So you've loose first ?
I didn't even realize that i already subscribed to you. Good stuff
Great footage and thank you 💪
Seven years in and i have not masterd this
Yes interesting !
super! thank you !
Fuck you. It goes against the Judo spirit to advocate for illegal techniques.
Dirty. Don't do this. Actually disappointed/embarrassed/angry that this is even a video from TS.
I use that combo to double fake then end with a Hiza Guruma or Sasae
Does that work on every throw
If he take grip on every throw is it difficult to throw him right?
Thhankyou
Thanks for showing the Japanese seoi nage player opening style uchimata/harai goshi footwork setup. I was slightly bothered all the time thinking how my instructor has taught keeping the chest direction and opening the left foot almost 180° before doing the turn and I was trying to figure out how much I should absorb from this and how much of it to make just a mental note about for later.
Do you worry a about your opponent stiff arming you when you go for kata guruma or it isn‘t a big concern for this throw in particulary?
А Илиас прекрасно говорит на русском!
Ahh ill try that vs my biddy at 240 lbs and see if he just laughs it off like he usually does with my other escapes
nice video! i like the second version better
I just learned that I’ve been calling Uchi mata to those 3 throws since I started bjj(9 years ago) 😂😂😂 but no one ever told me I was wrong 😢
I have a black belt in judo.
I know by other countries he isn't referring to Japan
Awesome video!
How can we escape if his right hand isn't between our leg and its outside and generally holding our body?
Another crazy good video. Thank you so much mister Stevens.
Tgats hanegoshi not uchimata
Yep. Take it from me I got a ring finger fracture.
I watched the Sambo version of this earlier. I think they call it a Fire extinguisher for some reason. I told them I like the move but they lacked detail. Thank you for this.
How strong is the band? I might need to get stronger ones but all the heavier ones are thick
Thank you for this excellent tutorial.
I'm very impressed with Travis. I had misjudged him. A lot people don't know or can't explain, but Travis delivers on both aspects.
Super 👍👍👍👍👍🥋🥋🥋
IM old but I'm gonna start grappling
Thanks a bunch mister Stevens. Your videos are top notch. There is so much things I need to work on ... I always take notes, and set my goals before every practice session. Sometimes it's fruitful, and sometimes not so much, but over the course of 2 years I've made some good progress. I still cannot do uchi mata though. I'll keep trying, but I suck at it big time. People around me specialize in it, so I know very well the feeling of getting thrown by it. I wish I could do it too. Hopefuly I'll get there thanks to you. Matthieu
Analysis/predictions for big tournaments would be great watch
I heard that it took you 18 months to get your BJJ black belt. Is this true?
I expected to see comments saying he should have used the screws with the plastic sleeves😂
Good tip for me a newb
looks LIKE kogas
